About Susan

Susan Joy Share, something...

Susan Joy Share was born in Syracuse, NY and received a BFA from
NY State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She worked as an
artist in New York City for 20 years, and then moved her studio to
Anchorage, AK in 1997.

Share’s artwork is included in collections at the National Museum of
Women in the Arts, DC, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY, the Victoria
and Albert Museum, UK, and the Anchorage Museum, AK. She has
exhibited and performed throughout the US and in England, Ireland
and Hungary.

Share has received grants from the Rasmuson Artists Fellowship
Program in AK, the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the New York
State Council on the Arts. She has also created public artwork for
Anchorage’s Municipal 1% for Art Program and private foundations.

Share worked as a book conservator in NYC at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, the New York Historical Society, and The Brooklyn
Museum of Art. She taught at many noted institutions including the
Center for Book Arts, NYC; Anderson Ranch Arts Center, CO; Penland
School of Crafts, NC; Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, ME; Visual
Studies Workshop, NY; Columbia College Center for Book and Paper,
IL; and the University of Alaska Anchorage.
